REVIEW: BOXCUTTER - THE DISSOLVE | 8 May 2011

Ireland's Barry Lynn aka Boxcutter's 13-track album The Dissolve has a very distinct style of its own with every track presenting its own unique identity! Daring though not overdone, he has kept every piece and its essence just the way it should be.

Be it the ones with a heavier bass or others with 70's disco influences smeared over, a rhythmic structure is always present. Out of the album, tracks such as Factory Setting, Moon Pupils and Little Smoke vs. Kab Driver are more suitable for a club night. While the description 'organic' is much overused and oft maligned, the track Allele preserves its original meaning with a modern touch that breathes new life into what we know. In one word: brilliant.
