The JUICE top 5 picks for juicy July to wrap up the month, including free downloads from Julio Bashmore and Flosstradamus & DJ Sliink.

Ikonika – PR812

What’s the buzz:  We’ve been waiting a year for this, and now it’s finally here! Ikonika has a new EP called I Make Lists out on her very own imprint Hum + Buzz and it’s simply epic.

Sounds like: Fabulous, impeccable, blustering UK funky from Hyperdub’s queen - all anchored by her signature driving basslines and bustling synth patterns.

Prediction: Sara Abdel-Hamid has been one of our favourite female producers in recent years and this just cements it. If you don’t already consider her the first lady of bass music, this will change your mind.

Blood Diamonds feat. Grimes – Phone Sex

What’s the buzz: Vancouver producer Blood Diamonds spent a sleepless night in his bedroom with Grimes, sipping gin and reading Nabokov. Oh and they found time to write a song too!

Sounds like: A warm, tropical electro-pop fantasy - perfect for summer!

Prediction: We’ve had our eye on Blood Diamonds for a while, but this sweet assist from BFF Claire Boucher should get him on everyone’s radars.

Julio Bashmore – Troglodytes

What’s the buzz: Hot on the heels of Au Seve and the launch of his own Broadwalk label come a FREE track from called Troglodytes.
Sounds like: Using a quirky sample from a classic funk tune called Troglodyte (Cave Man) by The Jimmy Castor Bunch, Bashmore has crafted a smooth and bouncy bit of house lushness.

Prediction: Julio shouldn’t be giving out this kind of genius pro bono, but hey, we aren’t complaining. He’s simply winning an army of devoted admirers… who’ll be glad to give him all their money when his next release hits.

Flosstradamus & DJ Sliink – Test Me

What’s the buzz: The insanely explosive Flosstradamus first met Jersey’s emerging DJ Sliink earlier this year at SXSW. A couple of e-mails and demo exchanges later, a bonafide dynamic duo was born!

Sounds like: An incredibly incendiary club-centric jam that cleverly uses its sample, pace, chopped-up vocals and hi-hat rushes to deliver a hot-blooded hip hop frenzy.

Prediction: With Flosstradamus is leading the charge, trap music is going to blow up big. And one of its horsemen will undoubtedly be his forthcoming EP with DJ Sliink called Nomads.

Disclosure – Control

What’s the buzz:
Between breaking out with their remix Jessie Ware’s Running to counting names like Annie Mac and Zane Lowe as fans, Disclosure’s on some kind of roll! And here they enlisting newcomer Ria Ritchie in their bid for Control.

Sounds like: A bubbling UK garage tune with vibrant doses of R&B that’s pretty representative of the brilliance found on their The Face EP.

Prediction: This is Disclosure’s joint through and through, but their profile is already sky-high at the moment. Meaning - this percolating beaut will do more for the blossoming Ritchie than vice versa.
